Fiction and Non-fiction Submissions
- First and foremost, we are a trade-publishing house which means we publish books for general readers which are made available through all channels in the book trade.
- We are primarily interested in science fiction, fantasy, horror, crime, and literature (that’s right, literature).
- As far as non-fiction, we are interested in true-crime, paranormal research and investigations, the occult, serial killers, secret societies, and just about anything that is considered to fall under the horror, creepy, unexplained, and downright disturbing genres.
- We are interested in horror in all its forms (see list below) and subjects with a few exceptions. No teenage romance novels that are similar to the stories with monsters that sparkle in the sunlight type stuff. We’re looking for hardcore horror that pushes the envelope.
- Please mail all submissions to frank@nephilimpress.com
- When submitting your work please place the word “Submission” in the email subject line followed by your name and the type and title of the work. An example: Submission, John Doe, Fantasy Fiction, the Gates of Cellkist.
- In t your email, list the word count, genre, and a quick plot synopsis. If your submission does not follow the proper subject line format, we can’t guarantee that we will open it. Also do not include your synopsis as a separate attachment, that will get your email deleted.
- Attach the full manuscript as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file extension. Do not send a PDF.
- Do not paste your manuscript in the body of the email.
- If you are not sure about how your manuscript should be prepared before it is submitted, please go here https://www.shunn.net/format/format.pdf (this will explain it all).
- Minimum word count for novels and fiction collections: 50,000.
- Although we will edit and proof read your manuscript as part of the publishing process we require that you fully proof read and edit your manuscripts to the best of your ability prior to submission.
- Do not submit a work-in-progress. We only accept completed works.
- We receive several hundred emails a week so please be patient in waiting for a response from us. It can take us up to 6 months review a manuscript.
- Follow-up emails will not be answered unless we have contacted you requesting more information from you (not to be rude but we just don’t have the time to read follow up emails. We know you are excited and anxious but follow-ups just make the whole thing take longer for everyone). We will contact you when we have completed our review of your work.
- We do not charge any fees to our authors for any reason whatso ever. If we agree to publish your submission, we will pay for everything. You will sit back and reap the rewards (actually you will be involved in the whole process, but we will discuss this with you when making you an offer to publish).
- We will not consider any works that have already been published. If your work gets picked for publishing with another publisher before you are contacted by us, please send us an email and let us know so we can pull your submission from the queue.
- If we decline to publish your manuscript, please do not re-submit it for publication. We will delete it (seriously, we will delete it).
- We offer a standard royalty rate of 50% on all net profits from the sale of your work.
